Australian Digital Health Agency

Building the digital backbone of connected health care

How we brought delivery confidence to some of Australia's most complex digital health projects

The Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) manages some of Australia's most critical health infrastructure. With the increasing demand for real-time, interoperable health information, ADHA needed to transform and modernise this infrastructure through major projects like enhancing the technology that underpins My Health Record, and delivering the first wave of a Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) repository and health information exchange. Given the scale and complexity of this transformation piece, ADHA brought on Jude to support with the delivery.

Bringing confidence to complex delivery

Jude provided senior delivery leadership across a portfolio of high-value, multi-stream and multi-year initiatives. We helped to set up clear delivery structures, integrated plans and governance pathways across multidisciplinary teams. We also embedded ADHA's project management and enterprise project management office frameworks to improve delivery assurance.

Turning strategy into actionable plans

Strategies only work if you can operationalise them. We worked closely with executives to translate strategic priorities into practical, achievable delivery plans. From scoping and establishing projects to detailed cost modelling, we empowered the agency with the means and methods to achieve its delivery goals.

Aligning vendors and commercial delivery

The portfolio of work involved multiple platform and delivery partners from around Australia and the world, working together on interconnected workstreams. Jude helped with contract negotiations, procurement activities and project mobilisation. We also set up a shared understanding of scope, responsibilities, budgets and delivery expectations.

Throughout the implementation phase, we coordinated vendor inputs, monitored performance and managed dependencies. This helped bring greater accountability and transparency to commercial delivery. It meant the agency could better anticipate risks, resolve blockers and maintain momentum.

Connecting stakeholders across government

Jude helped ADHA navigate a complex stakeholder environment, where close collaboration across ADHA divisions, delivery partners and government stakeholders was critical to success. We became the central point between business, policy, technical and executive teams. We also helped to translate complex delivery requirements so teams knew what actions and decisions needed to be made.

Jude also supported with reporting. We represented delivery status, risks and dependencies through executive steering groups and governance forums. Bringing stakeholders together enabled a shared understanding of the work, evidence-based decision-making and helped to align teams as things shifted.

Delivering for a more connected, secure healthcare system

The results were stronger delivery confidence and governance maturity across critical ADHA projects. More importantly, it helped ADHA take meaningful steps towards a more connected, secure and accessible digital health ecosystem.
